NMRID Scholarships and Awards Committee
The New Mexico Registry for Interpreters for the Deaf has established a Scholarship Awards Committee with a Board selected chair. The Committee’s tasks are to determine application criteria, advertise opportunities, solicit applications, make award determinations, disperse awards, and monitor the fulfillment of scholarship criteria.
The following scholarships and stipends are available annually:
- Up to two $45 scholarships to participate in any mentoring program in New Mexico; due on a rolling basis
- Up to two scholarships to cover the cost of taking any written exam that will lead to New Mexico interpreting licensure; due by December 1st
- Up to two scholarships to cover the cost of taking any performance test that will lead to New Mexico interpreting licensure; due by December 1st
- Up to two $450 professional development scholarships geared towards members who want to pursue training or mentoring, in or outside of the state, and are interested in any of the following professional development tracks: independent study modules, webinars, mentoring programs, hybrid or electronic virtual trainings, immersion programs, conferences as well as other forms of skill building opportunities deemed appropriate by the scholarship committee. Priority may be given for trainings in areas of critical need for the state of New Mexico, such as legal or mental health trainings. NMRID will pay up to $450 in conference registration fees with proof of payment
All scholarships and stipends require membership in NMRID by January 1 of the year in which they are applying. All scholarships and stipends are open to any deaf or hearing NMRID member, certified or non-certified, associate and student.
